Chicago PD Will Shoot Here in Chicago

"Chicago PD" - from the same people who make "Chicago Fire," [which has also been renewed for a second season] including producer Dick Wolf and creators Derek Haas and Michael Brandt - will be shot here in its entirety and have more in common with a show like "Hill Street Blues" than the typical high-concept crime procedurals that have become predominant on network TV

(from Chicago Tribune, thanks to Gray Talent Group for letting me know). No word yet on who will be doing local casting, though both Simon Casting and Paskal Rudnicke Casting locally cast some of the episodes of the first season of Chicago Fire. Background casting of the first season of Chicago Fire was at least in part done by Joan Philo Casting.

Chicago Fire Picked Up by NBC

...the network has given a series order to the Wolf-produced firefighter drama pilot Chicago Fire

(from Deadline).

The show's pilot filmed in town earlier this spring, and will presumably continue to film here as the show progresses, meaning boatloads of revenue for the city, local film crews...

(from A.V. Club). No confirmation of who will be doing local casting of principal or background actors.

MTV Series Starts Shooting in Chicago This Month

Underemployed, MTV's forthcoming series about five recent college grads struggling to make their way in this mixed-up world, is set to film its first season in Chicago starting this in mid-April

(from A.V. Club Chicago). Extras, background and stand-ins will be cast by ExtraOrdinary Casting.

Update June 12, 2012: Paskal Rudnicke Casting is local casting for principles.

RideAlong Picked Up

The Fox pilot RideAlong has been picked up (Hollywood Reporter). The pilot shot in Chicago. Claire Simon Casting did local principle casting and ExtraOrdinary Casting did background casting.

May be too early to know what portion of the show, if any, will shoot in Chicago. Please leave a comment if you have any news/updates/insight (or know who will be casting).

Update February 2011 (better late than never): the show is now called 'Chicago Code' and is quite good.

'Public Enemies' Shooting in Chicago

'Public Enemies' is shooting in the Chicago area (some updates on Wisconsin production are on Grinder's blog) and the Chicago extras casting director seems to be Joan Philo, and they may be shooting here through June:
Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and directed by Michael Mann is coming to Chicago and Wisconsin

Many Shoots in Town this Summer

With "Batman 2"/"The Dark Knight"/"Rory’s First Kiss," "The Return" (starring Rachel McAdams) and "Wanted" (starring Angelina Jolie) shooting here this summer, everyone should be busy. Meanwhile, "ER" might be stopping by and the TBS series "My Boys," which has been pretending to be "Chicago-based," might actually, finally do some shooting in Chicago

Big Film Summer Says Performink

It's looking to be the hottest summer since the pre-millennial glory days for the Chicago film industry. And it’s not just because of Batman.
A bigger budget [like Batman's] doesn’t translate directly into more local jobs, though, as more expensive shoots are more likely to ship in a greater share of their cast and crew from out of town
(from PerformInk). It is mentioned that while bigger budgets are also more like to get out of town cast than they are to get out of town crew, having crew in Chicago is essential for anything to shoot here.

Batman Here This Summer

...the production team has returned to the city to shoot the bulk of the principal photography for "Dark Knight," the latest installment in the franchise. The production is expected to shoot a million feet of film this summer and looks to be the most substantial feature to hit town in years

May Shoot in Chicago: Sports Action Team

NBC plans a new semi-scripted series to follow NFL Sunday night football games starting this fall. It has ordered 17 episodes of Sports Action Team to air on all NBC affiliates, produced by Towers Productions Inc., in association with NBC O&O WMAQ/Chicago. According to Hollywood Reporter, the story is about a sad group of sports reporters as they head out to get the big stories from real sports athletes, managers, celebs and fans
(from Cynopsis). The Towers casting website says they are not currently seeking actors.

Black Water Transit Update: not shooting here

Update on my earlier post about 'Black Water Transit':
Actor Vin Diesel dealt an unexpected blow to Chicago when he reportedly pulled out as the star of Accent Pictures’ $30 million action-drama “Black Water Transit.” It was due to start shooting here July 31.
Five L.A. staffers had just begun to settle into offices at Chicago Studio City when they were told June 15 the movie was canceled and they returned to L.A

Prison Break Picked Up Again for Next Season

The network gave an early greenlight Tuesday to a sophomore season of Prison Break.
November's midseason finale pulled in a season-high 12.2 million viewers
(from E! online). Prison Break shoots in and around Chicago (and in some studios in LA). I posted earlier about extras casting for Prison Break.
